For the person trying to understand a bill
Use the checker when you have an itemized statement with service descriptions and charges. Add the matching insurance Explanation of Benefits if you have one. You can photograph a page, upload a supported file or paste the text, then correct the extracted details before checking.
The report brings together possible repeated charges, selected code and quantity concerns, arithmetic discrepancies and a comparison with a claim-wide insurance allowance. It is a starting point for a conversation, not a complete audit of every code or insurance rule.
Questions you can use, with the uncertainty visible
Each finding identifies the relevant lines, explains what needs checking and provides a question for the billing office. Confidence labels help distinguish stronger matches from details that need your review. Some concerns cannot be priced and appear without a dollar impact.
The estimated potential overcharge is an amount to investigate. It is not a corrected balance, a payment recommendation or guaranteed savings. An insurance allowance difference may already be handled by a contractual adjustment. A $0 estimate does not establish that your bill is correct.
An independent tool with a defined scope
Medical Bill Checker is not an insurer, billing office, government service or dispute representative. It cannot access your insurer’s claim records, determine what you legally owe, contact a provider or make decisions about your care. No clinical or legal review of your documents is implied.
The guides link to public resources from CMS and HealthCare.gov so you can read the underlying explanations. Those sources do not endorse this app. Demonstration bills are fictional; they illustrate the workflow and are not evidence of customer savings.
You control what you submit and share
Original photos and files are read on your device. Checking sends the reviewed text to the app’s server for processing in memory. The app does not save bill histories or reports, and it does not load advertising or analytics scripts.
Optional AI processing, when available, has a separate opt-in. A compatible browser assistant must ask for approval on the page before a check returns a limited summary to that assistant. Service details can reveal health information even after names and account numbers are removed.
