Before you select Check my bill

Text you paste stays in the page until you submit it. Photos and files are read on your device; the original files are not uploaded. For photos and scanned pages, your browser downloads text-recognition software and English language data from this site. Recognition runs in your browser, without sending the image to a cloud OCR provider.

You can edit the extracted text and must confirm it before adding it to the bill or optional EOB field. You can cancel reading or discard a review. Neither reading nor accepting text starts an analysis. Select Check my bill, or explicitly approve a compatible browser assistant’s request on the page, to send the form’s text to the app’s server. Include only the itemized service details and totals needed for a review.

Names, addresses, birth dates, account numbers and insurance member IDs are not required. Remove them first. Service descriptions can still reveal health information after direct identifiers are removed.

During a check

The app sends the submitted bill and optional EOB text to its server over HTTPS. It processes that text and the resulting findings in memory, and returns the report to your browser. Basic checks run on the server; “basic” does not mean your text stays entirely on your device.

The application does not write bill text, uploaded documents or reports to a database, file store or application logs. It instructs browsers and intermediate caches not to store analysis responses. Temporary request-rate counters help limit misuse and are separate from bill contents.

Optional AI processing is a separate choice

AI assistance is off unless you select it and confirm processing when the option is available. The form explains the configured providers before submission. With your choice enabled, OpenAI may receive the submitted text for extraction, and OpenAI or TypeSafe may receive structured service details for individual checks.

Those providers have their own processing and retention terms. The app’s no-storage behavior does not guarantee that an external provider retains nothing. Leave AI assistance off to use basic checks without sending your bill to an AI provider.

Sharing a review with a browser assistant

If your browser and assistant support WebMCP, the assistant can request a review of the bill already in the form. A visible approval on the page is required each time. Complete any imported-text review first. Approval lets the app check the current text and makes a limited summary available for the requesting assistant to retrieve once. That assistant’s provider may process or retain the summary under separate terms.

That summary includes the estimate status, amount to investigate and up to five findings with line numbers, confidence, dollar impacts and generic questions. It omits raw bill text, full parsed service details, descriptions, codes, dates and filenames. The summary can still reveal sensitive information. This sharing choice is separate from the optional AI-processing setting.

Before the assistant retrieves it, you can cancel sharing. A pending request or unread summary expires after five minutes; editing or clearing inputs, changing the AI preference, starting another import or leaving the page also invalidates it. Cancellation cannot withdraw information already delivered to an assistant or stop processing already underway elsewhere. Public remote MCP tools serve only guides, capabilities and fictional examples; they cannot retrieve your bill or report.

Hosting, cookies and advertising

Vercel hosts this site and processes network requests to deliver it. Hosting infrastructure may handle technical information such as IP addresses, request timing and security logs under its own terms. The application’s in-memory policy is not a promise that no infrastructure information exists.

The current site does not load advertising scripts, analytics trackers or session-replay tools. The application does not set cookies or save bill data in local or session storage. Text recognition does not store your documents in a browser database. Your browser may cache the site’s software and language files; those files contain no bill data. There is no advertising or analytics integration receiving your report.

Clearing the page and sharing information

Clear all or Start over removes bill inputs and results from the active page. This does not delete your original file, anything you copied elsewhere or information already processed by an external provider. Keep your own records if you want to revisit the report; the app has no saved report to retrieve.

The site-sharing button shares the public homepage only. Copy question and Copy all questions can include service descriptions, dates, codes and amounts from your bill. Review that text before sending it. Your clipboard, browser, device and any app you share with are governed by their own settings and policies.
